Wembley stadium
Teh old stadium with its famous twin towers is no more. Now the skyline around north London is dominated by the new steel arch crowning the new stadium. Another one of the big building projects in London. Unfortunately this one looks like being late and over budget. The builder, Multiplex, is in severe financial straights partly as a result of the cost overuns. Multiplex also built the Sydney

Venti americano mistake
Stopped for coffee and a sweet thing at Waitrose supermarket on the way to see my parents at the nursing home. Guy at the cafe was "time and motion" challenged. What should take two movements and 30 seconds, took four and two minutes.
The coffee was scalding hot, but at least had flavour. The coffee I mistakenly asked for at the home tasted like dishwater.

Photo Friday - Success
My Midget League baseball team was lousy before I went on vacation. Without me, they battled through the playoffs - I think every team qualified - and made it to the league final. By that time, I'd go back from vacation.
I got a trophy despite contributing to a loss in that final.

Big sh!t
There are currently three of the largest building sites in Europe in the London area - Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, Wembley Stadium and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL). Gilbert Scott's masterpiece, St Pancras Station, is the terminus for CTRL. Here, the famous clock tower competes with a tower crane.
