Garden blog
Today - the hottest day of the year (33° in the garden) saw the first harvest of potatoes in our small vegetable garden. I lifted a few from one of the container plants and several more from one in the vegetable bed. Gave me a lot of pleasure even if it was small pickings and only potatoes. It's the first time I've grown potatoes and I'm surprised anytime I can get anything to grow be it alfalfa in a seed sprouter or strawberries in a container.

More beer
You probably get the impression that I like beer, or something.
A leisurely lunch at the Hampshire Bowman down in Dundridge, Hants - just happened to coincide with a beer festival. I think this was Brewers Gold, from the Crouch Vale Brewery.

Photo Friday - Sport
Jacobs Field, Cleveland. April 1998. A friend of a firend managed to get plum seats. Quite a feat given the Jake was getting sold out every game. The Angels clobbered the Indians.
That's the Halos Davey Hollins facing Jaret Wright of the Tribe.

Meltdown
It's Meltdown time again on the South Bank. Patti Smith (cross between Keith Richards and a French poet, according to one report I read) is this year's curator. As usual, there's an odd collection of artists on the bill.
Singer/songwriter with bad beard, Ed Harcourt, opened Meltdown.
Ed on the guitar.
Main act on the first evening, the "notorius" Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Tuesday
[placeholder] Regular viewer(s) may have noticed a lack of activity here for the last week or so. Well, life's been getting me down. I have to admit that I've not been scrupulous about taking a picture a day for this blog. Work has been a distraction too.
Anywho, we're getting back on track here and also over at I am a Donut central. It'll never happen again*. Promise.
* - until the next blip in my life. [/placeholder]

Bags
[rant] Tried Sainsbury's home shopping - groceries from the internet - service. 20% of what we ordered wasn't in stock. Can you believe no watercress, no strong cheddar, no yeast? To top it off, the delivery came in 19 (yes, that's n-n-n-nineteen) carrier bags. So much for sustainability.
We won't be trying that again. [/rant]
